Club Notes – 27th September 2016

Saturday’s competition the Vivo Stores Ballycolman competition fell foul of the recent wet weather conditions and had to be postponed as the course was badly flooded in the morning and was rightly declared unplayable. This event will now be rescheduled for Sat 15th October.

There was a good entry for week three of the Thursday club which was reduced to 15 holes also due to the wet conditions, this week’s winner was Oliver McNally (19) with 36 pts, the runner up was Dr Paul Armstrong (16) with 34pts just ahead on break of tie from Francie Devine (11) on the same total.  The early pacesetter in the golfer of the year stakes is Neil Conroy with 52 pts from Liam Patton in second with 37pts. Shane McLaughlin currently leads the “King of the 2’s” competition currently with three. New members are most welcome.

Eleven teams participated in this week’s Monday team’s event with the winners being declared as Denis Porter, Jim Wasson, Hugh Casey & George Turner with 83 pts for the 15 holes in play, the runners up were Robert Bell, Oliver McNally and Chris McDermott with 82.5 pts with Freddie Patterson, Ronnie Wiley, Liam Patton and Clarke Klam in third with 81pts.

Some matchplay ties are badly behind schedule an effort must be made to complete these competitions as soon as possible with two of the events only being at the semi-final stages! time is running out as the Winter Cup is set to get underway on Sunday 8th October.

Last week’s ladies event was the rescheduled Members Cup and it went the way of Lauren Patton (16) who made it two wins in a row and both with the same total of 37 pts, category one went to Lorna Duffy (21) also with 37 pts with category two going to Olive Reid (29) with 32 pts. Next Tuesday is the closing competition for the Ladies it’s a 10 holes scramble followed by a presentation buffet at 7.30pm.

Good luck to everyone going to the Captains Outing to Donegal Golf club on Saturday, hopefully we will have a decent day’s weather for the event, the presentations will take place back in the club at approximately 9.30pm.
