Club Notes – 13th September 2016

NIGEL BACK IN THE FORM
After a spell of uncharacteristic inconsistent golf Nigel Houston (12) bounced back in great style to take the Claims Assist Insurance Services Open on Saturday at Strabane. Nigel had been out of the game for some weeks with injury so his fine total of 40pts on a difficult day was most welcome, the runner up was Mark McColgan (5) with a fine two over par round that converted to 39pts, Terence McCay (23) was third with a very steady 38pts, fourth went to Philip Miller (22) with 37pts with Mark McCrea (9) taking the final nett prize also with 37 pts.  The best gross on the day went to Sean Forbes (6) with 31 gross pts, the nines went to Joe Kennedy (20) with 21pts for the first nine and to Ciaran Murphy (9) with 20pts for the back nine.
The Thursday Club got underway on Thursday past and we had some fine scoring on the day, the winner of week one was Paul Given (17) with 42pts, Paul is a relatively new member at the club and one who is already showing massive potential, the runner up was the ever consistent Michael Neeson (11) with 41pts with veteran, Danny Duffy (15), in third with 40 pts. The best score of the day was recorded by Brendan O’Neill (24) playing as a non- Thursday Club member he accumulated an eye catching 45 pts. New members are most welcome to join.

Ladies
Last week’s ladies event was the Bertie Colhoun Cup and it was won by Lauren Patton (16) with 37pts, again in difficult conditions, the categories went to Norma Brogan (15) with 35pts and to Mary Gallagher (31) with 33pts.

The mixed foursomes season is nearing the end of its schedule also. The latest Wednesday evening winners were Margaret Wolfe & Paddy O’Kane with 20 pts, the runners up were Monica McIntyre and Jason Gourley with 18 pts and Marion & Paul O’Reilly in third on the same total.
Our deepest condolences this week are extended to our Lady Captain Anne Sharkey, and the entire Pollock family, on the death of their mother Bridie, Mrs Pollock was laid to rest at St Marys Church Cloughcor on Wednesday morning, may she rest in peace.
This week’s £50 bar credit winner was Kevin Neeson.
