Club News – 10th April 2012

Eight handicapper Paul McGill took the Daly Topaz Open with an excellent return of 65 nett on a day that saw the course back to its full length, and playing particularly difficult in the northerly breeze that prevailed for most of the day, almost 200 golfers took out cards for the event with only a dozen managing to break par, Paul got off to a steady start getting to the turn in three over par and an excellent home nine which saw him concede only one more shot to par saw him top the leader board.
Runner up on the day, just one shot behind, was Jim Malcolm (16) who had his best day for some time with Joey Roulstone (22) also finishing on 66 nett to take third.  Junior member Kevin Gallagher (7) continues to show huge potential and he took fourth on break of tie with 67 nett with Gerard Foley (22) playing well to take fifth place.  The gross prize went to Conal Cooke (3) with an excellent two over par return and the nines prizes went to Liam Curry (9) and to club President, Paddy O’Kane (9).
