FOLEY TAKES J.K.C. CARS EVENT
Gerard Foley (21) took the honours in Saturdays big event the JKC Specialist Cars sponsored Stableford with an eye catching score of 43 pts which on a day when scoring was difficult with the breeze and tricky greens was a brilliant effort and good enough on the day by three clear shots. Despite a blank hole at the index one 3rd hole, Gerard still managed to pick up 23 pts for the outward nine and coupled with a very strong finish posted the early morning score that was never likely to be bettered. The runner up on the day was also one of the very early starters Michael Kelly (10) showing his best form in sometime to accumulate a solid 40 pts relegating Declan Doherty (20) into third place on break of tie, fourth went to Lindsay Boyd (24) with 39 pts with Barry Callaghan (18) taking the final nett prize also with 39 pts.  The gross went to a lad very much in form at the moment, Fred Daly team member, Ryan McGowan (5) with 33 gross pts, the nines went to Gerry Casey (16) who took the outward nine with 23 pts and to Martin McGrellis who took the homeward nine with 21 pts.

Closest to the pin at the last hole went to Ryan McGowan who glided a nine iron into two feet.
The Captain Sean MacIntyre congratulated the local soccer team on their brilliant achievements so far gaining successive promotions in their first two years and also reaching the upcoming cup final, he wished them continued success in their efforts to put Strabane back firmly on the Regional soccer map.

JIMMY CLAIMS ONE FOR THE VETERANS

Veteran player Jimmy Henderson (25) claimed a victory for the clubs senior golfers with a fine victory in Saturdays PG Mc Gillion Motors Stableford Open which attracted another huge entry with almost 200 competing on a day when the course was playing at its full length the North Westerly breeze keeping good scores to a minimum with only nine players managing to break par on the day. A blistering front nine of 24 pts laid the foundations for Jimmy’s winning round and despite a few hiccups on the back nine in the conditions he held his nerve with a solid finish to accumulate his winning total. The runner up on the day was Stephen Curry (12) who showed a very welcome return to form to post a creditable 40 pts, with Nicky Wolfe (10) also featuring for the first occasion in some time with a good 39 pts which brought him back to single figures.

Martin Rouse (11) has shown some good early season form and his total of 37 pts was good enough for fourth spot with Damian Carey (12) fifth also with 37 pts. The gross prize went to Fred Daly team member Ryan McGowan (5) with an excellent gross total of 34 points, which was just two over par on the day. The nines prizes went to Michael Baldrick (16) who had 21 pts for the first nine and to Michael McColgan (25) who accumulated 20 pts on the more difficult back nine. The presentation for this event is on Friday 27th April at 8.30 sharp!
