Club Notes – 12th March 2012

NEW GOLFING SEASON DRAWS CLOSER.

Hopes are high in local golfing circles that an improvement in the weather will see the new golfing season getting underway as scheduled with the season’s opener “The John Kelly Stableford” on Saturday 24th March. The timesheet for this event will be available in the club from 7.30pm this Friday 16th March along with the timesheets for Sat 31st March and for the Joe McGarrigle Staying Alive Tund Team Classic on Sunday 1st April.

Plenty of golf has been possible in recent weeks as the off-season draws to a close, the main event saw the conclusion of The Super-Valu Springers league which went to the” 2 PR’S” in convincing fashion at the end leading from the front they eventually ran out the winners by a comfortable margin of 12 points, the team were William and Johnny Potts who accompanied Eric and Barry Reid, this was a further milestone for the Reid’s as they had earlier in the Winter teamed up to lift the Sperrin Springs Winter Cup, a very noteworthy double indeed.  The runners up in the event were the consistent squad of Michael Baldrick, Freddie Patterson, John Brolly and John Maxwell, with The Snooker Loops, namely Paul McLaughlin, Chris Timoney, Neil Alcock and Mickey O’Neill taking third place overall.  Please take note the Presentation for this competition will now take place on Friday 13th April at 8.30pm, there is a presentation buffet available to participants at 7.30 on the evening.
