GREAT SCORES AT STRABANE

Saturdays P.G.McGillion Motors Open Stableford saw another huge turnout at Strabane with 192 players taking out cards, with the course in pristine condition and with  favourable weather conditions there were some fantastic scores returned on the day, with a break of tie needed to separate the top four players who all finished on 43 pts. Thanks to a superior back nine of 24 pts the winner was Dr John Etherson (17) who picked up his first major competition win thanks mainly to his fine finish, which contained birdies at the 15th and 16th holes. Finishing in the runners up berth was Seamus Foley (13) who had been in the first Fourball of the day and almost managed to hold on for an overdue win, third place went to Eugene Patton (23) who has been showing steady signs of improvement lately and fourth was Conor Sharkey (9) who will regret a double bogey six at the 14th hole which tainted an otherwise flawless card and cost him a lifetime best return of level par.
