Liam Patton made a welcome return to form to take the top award in Saturday’s stableford event at Strabane Golf Club. Liam returned an excellent 36 points to hold off the challenge of John Duffy and Pat Patton who each posted 35 points to finish second and third respectively. The gross prize went to Ben Corry with a typically steady 31 points.
The Supervalu Springers League, played on Sunday, saw the “2PRs” retain their advantage at the top of the table, their 88 point haul at the weekend elevating them to an impressive 302 point total. The leading quartet – Eric and Barry Reid and William and Johnny Potts – are currently seven points clear of the field, a lead that is comfortable though not insurmountable. On the evidence of last Sunday’s performance, the “Lock Keepers” – Pat Patton, John Duffy, Matt Keyes and Martin Gormley – are quite capable of overhauling the leaders. Their tremendous 96 point return catapulted them to second place and into a position from which they could well launch a genuine challenge. The third-placed team, “The Gravy Boys” (Michael and Adrian Baldrick, John Brolly and Niall Coulter), have been on the coat-tails of the leaders for some weeks now and they are certainly not out of it should the pacesetters slip up. They presently lie five points adrift of the “Lock Keepers”.
Needless to say, the “Lock Keepers” dominated the weekly Supervalu Sweep:
1. Pat Patton & John Duffy 48 points
2. Matt Keyes & Martin Gormley 48 points
3. Dermott Corry & Aidan Coyle 46 points
The Thursday Club (Week Five) produced the following result:
1. Tommy Falconer 38 points
2. Pascal McGillian 37.5 points
3. Ronnie Wiley 37 points
In Week Six, the winners were:

2. Liam Doherty 35 points
3. Paddy Doyle 35 points

Last Saturday’s stableford event at Strabane Golf Club was won by Kevin Keegan who posted an impressive 38 points over 15 holes. Jason Kelly was a couple of points adrift in second place, with Kevin Gallagher a further shot back in third place. The gross award went to Conal Cooke with 29 points.
The Supervalu Springers league got back on track on Sunday, having suffered some disruption due to the inclement conditions. The “Uncle Buck” quartet of Freddie Patterson, Mark McDermott, Brian Cairns and Martin Patton took full advantage of the favourable conditions to take their total to 126 points, sufficient to give them a two point lead at the head of the table. The “Under-Fifties” currently occupy second place, one point ahead of the experienced “Always late.”
The Supervalu Sweep finished thus:
1. Martin Elliott and John Hegarty - 42 points
2. Barry Reid and William Potts – 41 points
